The Council is required to make a submission
to the Local Government Boundary Commission for England on proposed
new warding arrangements for Gateshead. This is the second phase of
the Commission's electoral review of arrangements in Gateshead. The
first phase concluded with the Commission being minded to agree to
the Council remaining at the same size - 66 Councillors over 22
wards. The second phase considers the new ward boundary patterns
across the borough. These changes will be implemented in the local
elections in 2026.
