SUMMARY OF DECISION OF LICENSING SUB-COMMITTEE

Type of Hearing :                  Review of premises licence

The Sub Committee has decided as follows:

To adjourn the hearing to 11am on 17 January 2018

Reasons

The Sub Committee had regard to the Licensing Officer’s report, and the verbal representations made at the hearing by –

·         Ms Johnson (on behalf of Trading Standards)

·         Inspector Pitchford (on behalf of Northumbria Police)

·         Mr Bradley (on behalf of the Licensing Authority); and

·         Mr Jeyarasa who was accompanied by an interpreter

The Sub Committee heard that Mr Jeyarasa had sought legal representation but that his solicitor was unable to attend for the hearing as scheduled.  The Sub Committee considered it necessary that the hearing be adjourned in order to give Mr Jeyarasa the opportunity to be legally represented at the hearing on the next occasion, to facilitate consideration of Mr Jeyarasa’s representations.

In reaching this decision the Sub Committee has been persuaded by the individual circumstances of this Application and does not intend to create a general exception to its Policy or to create a precedent.
