Honorary Aldermen/Alderwomen of the Borough

To consider the following motion:

 

‘That Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council, under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, hereby confers the title of Honorary Alderman/Alderwoman upon the following former councillors in recognition of their eminent service to Gateshead:

 

·         Bob Goldsworthy  (2007 – 2024)

·         Linda Green MBE (1991 – 2024)

·         Sonya Hawkins     (2012 – 2024)

·         Paul McNally        (2005 – 2023)

 

And accordingly, it hereby admits the above former councillors to be Honorary Aldermen/Alderwomen’.

 

Minutes:

COUNCIL RESOLVED:

i.                 That the Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council, under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, hereby confers the title of Honorary Alderman and Alderwoman upon the following former councillors in recognition of their eminent service to the Council:

Bob Goldsworthy

Linda Green MBE

Sonya Hawkins

Paul McNally

Honorary Freedom of the Borough

To consider the following motion:

 

‘That Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council, under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972, hereby confers the Honorary Freedom of the Borough upon:

 

·         Joseph Schleider in recognition to his contribution to the community, and a founding Trustee of the Jewish Community Council of Gateshead and his position as an elder statesman of the Jewish Community in Gateshead.

 

·         HMS Calliope in recognition of its services to the Royal Navy Reserve in Gateshead and the wider community.

 

And accordingly, it hereby admits Joseph Schleider and HMS Calliope as Honorary Freemen of the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead’.
