Additional Information

Born in Chester le Street, I have lived in Birtley for almost 40 years. I attended Birtley South Secondary and then our local comprehensive school, Lord Lawson of Beamish when the old school was new. I am married and have two grown up children, both of whom are also former pupils at Lord Lawson. I also have three grandchildren.

I was employed full time as a Civil Servant and have worked around the North East in a number of locations. I retired in 2015.

I was formerly a member of Birtley town council and was first elected to serve on Gateshead Council in 1998.

Outside of work and my role with Gateshead Council I am a school governor and am a member of the management committees of both the Birtley Community Partnership and Barley Mow Village Hall. I am interested in and support various organisations:

·         Oxfam

·         The Red Cross

·         RSPCA

·         UNICEF

·         Free Tibet

·         Cuba Solidarity
