Additional Information

I am proud to serve as one of your Labour Councillors in Dunston Hill and Whickham East, following my election in May 2015.

I grew up on the Lakes Estate in Whickham and I now live in Dunston, so I know the local issues that are important to you. I am involved in political campaigning locally and nationally and I have a proven track record of getting out on the doors in my ward to meet with residents. As the Secretary of the Dunston Festival Committee I hope to develop stronger links between our community groups and look at ways in which we can work more closely to improve our area.

I’m particularly passionate about education. I worked for seven years as a secondary school and sixth form teacher and I continue to serve as a Local Authority School Governor at Washingwell Primary School. I’m a committed trade unionist and as a former NUT rep I have a good record of standing up for working people. I’m now a member of Unite the Union and UNISON and I believe strongly that where there is good organisation and representation in the workplace everyone benefits.

As your local councillor I am here to help. Please get in touch if I can help in any way.
