RESOLVED:

i.              That Councillor Douglas and Councillor Mulvenna be appointed as the Chair and Vice Chair of the Panel for 2024/25 respectively.

Councillor Butler (Sunderland City Council), Councillor Chequer (Sunderland City Council) Councillor Foreman (South Tyneside Council) and , Councillor Welsh (South Tyneside Council).

RESOLVED:

i.              The PCC proposed the appointment of Councillor Clare Penny-Evans as the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.

The panel is asked to pass a resolution to exclude the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the following item in accordance with Paragraph 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.

RESOLVED:

i.              That the press and public are excluded from the meeting during the consideration of the remaining business in accordance with Paragraph 1 of Schedule 12A to the Local Government Act 1972.

To consider and determine the content of the panel’s report and recommendations to the Police and Crime Commissioner in respect of the proposed appointment of the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner.

The panel concluded the interview and made their recommendations to the Police and Crime Commissioner and noted that it will be followed up with a report.
