Agenda and minutes

The committee is asked to approve the minutes of the previous meeting held on 19 July 2021.

RESOLVED -              That the minutes of the meeting held on 19 July 2021 be approved as a correct record, subject to it being noted that Councillor M Ord and Councillor J Simpson had submitted their apologies and they were not recorded on the minutes.

Report of the Strategic Director, Development, Transport and Public Protection

The Committee received an update following a report in its July meeting, the Council has received a commitment from the landowner that he will include the provision of steps in his diversion of the footpath as recommended by a contractor who has visited the site.  There will be approximately 12 steps 2metres wide.

RESOLVED    -           (i)         that a public path diversion order be made to divert part of footpath Ryton 62/2 from Point A to Point C as shown with a bold line attached as an appendix to the minute to the new alignment from Point A to Point c as shown with a broken line on the plan attached as an appendix to the minute.

                                   (ii)        that delegated authority be granted to the Strategic Director, of Corporate Services and Governance to undertake the following:

(a)   To consult the statutory consultees and make a public path diversion order to divert part of the Footpath Ryton 62 from Point A to Point C as shown on the bold line on the plan attached to the minute, to the new alignment from Point A to Point C shown with a broken line on the plan attached at the appendix to the minute.

(b)   That if no objections are received, to confirm the order or if objections are received and not subsequently withdrawn, to send the order to the Secretary of State for determination as an opposed order.

Report of the Strategic Director, Corporate Services and Governance and the Strategic Director, Communities and Environment

The Committee were provide with an update report on progress with regards to Rights of Way matters.

The Committee were advised that there have been no changes with regards to the legal matters since the last Committee.

Work had been carried out across the rights of way network to make improvements and repairs to paths and bridleways and cut back overgrowth including the following:

·        Ravensworth Golf Course, Gateshead 4 and 5

·        Stargate, Blaydon 104

·        Highfield, Blaydon 33

·        Kibblesworth, Lamesley 72

·        Burdon Moor, Lamesley 72

·        Hikey Bridge, Whikham 191 and 204

·        Whickham, 66

·        Watergate Park, Whickham 87

·        Marley Hill, Whickham 148

·        Stargate Roundabout, Blaydon 83
