Consideration has been given to tenders
received for the supply of goods and services.

RESOLVED -
|
(i)
|
That the tender from Treatment
Solutions, Whitley Bay be accepted for the contract for the
Provision of Corporate Physiotherapy Services for a 24 month period
commencing 1March 2017 with the option to extend for a further 2 x
12 month periods.
|
|
|
|
|
(ii)
|
That the tender from Newcastle
Council for Voluntary Service (NCVS) be accepted for the contract
for the Provision of Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA),
Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) and Independent (Care
Act) Advocacy Services for a 24 month period commencing
1st April 2017 with the option to extend for a further 2
x 12 month periods.

|
The above decisions have been made because a
comprehensive evaluation of the tenders received has
been undertaken and the approved tenders are the most economically
advantageous tenders submitted.

Minutes:
Consideration has been given to recommending the Council to approve the proposed arrangement for
appointing an external auditor for the financial year beginning on
1 April 2018.

|
The alternative options to that being
recommended, but which were discounted, included making a
standalone appointment or joining with other local authorities
to set up a Joint Independent Auditor
Appointment Panel / local joint procurement
arrangements.
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED -
|
|
That the Council be recommended to approve
the proposal to opt-in to a national sector led body
that will undertake the appointment of an external auditor on
behalf of the Council.
|
|
|
|
The above decisions have been made for the
following reasons:
|
|
|
|
|
(A)
|
To ensure the Council can make
the necessary arrangements for the appointment of external auditors
for the financial year beginning on 1 April 2018 in compliance with
the requirements of the Local Audit and Accountability Act
2014.
|
|
|
|
|
(B)
|
The agreed option
is considered to be the optimum arrangement for the achievement of
value for money and deliverability.
|
|

|

That the Sexual Health Strategy for Gateshead
as set out in appendix 2 to the report be approved.
|
|
|

(ii)
|
That the Health and Wellbeing Board be
requested to monitor progress on the Strategy’s
implementation.
|
|
|
|
The above decision has been made for the
following reasons:

(A)
|
To determine a clear set of priorities for
sexual health in Gateshead across the partners.
|
|
|
|
|
(B)
|
To focus and co-ordinate efforts to improve
sexual health.

Proposal for Increase to Hackney Carriage Fare Maxima PDF 269 KB

Minutes:
Consideration has been given to the request by the Director of a local taxi company for
an increase in the maximum fares that can be charged for hackney
carriage journeys in the Borough.

|
The alternative recommendation to that being
recommended, but which was discounted, included a statutory process
of advertisement and referral back to Cabinet of any
objections.
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED -
|
(i)
|
That consultation with the
Hackney Carriage trade and more widely including a notice in the
press on the request for an increase in the maximum fares that can
be charged for hackney carriage journeys in the Borough
be approved.
|
|
|
|
|
(ii)
|
That the outcome of the consultation together
with the current hackney carriage fare formula which
was approved by Cabinet on 27 January 2004 be considered by a
Policy Advisory Group and advice and recommendations from this to
be included in a further report to Cabinet.
|
|
|
|
The above decision has been made to give due
consideration to the request and to review the current fare formula
to ensure it is still fit for purpose.

Consideration has been given to the nomination
of local authority governors and the re-appointment of an academy

be approved for a period of four years from the dates
indicated.
