Presenter to be confirmed. Additional documents:
Minutes: The Committee received a presentation on the proposed merger of the Teams Medical Practice and the Glenpark Medical Centre. The presentation and additional documentation submitted outlined that this was a move for two practices with an overlapping practice boundary to work innovatively to produce high quality care under national pressures. It was added that the staff at Teams Medical Practice are feeling positive towards the merger, and that patients who find transport to Glenpark Medical Centre difficult will be able to continue receiving care at Teams Medical Practice. Both practices have assured staff that there will be no redundancies as a consequence of this merger. It was noted that all local trainee schemes are full, and that the hope is that a merger would attract more General Practitioners. The Committee raised concerns about the speed of the merger, consultation with other merged practices, and that mergers were not a long term solution to a shortage of General Practitioners. Consultation results highlighted in the meeting were concerns about transport to Glenpark Medical Centre and worries that the Teams Medical Practice would close down. Patients were assured that the practice will remain open and that if patients did not want to receive treatment at Glenpark Medical Centre they could remain at their current practice. RESOLVED i. The Committee noted the report. |
