Report of the Chief Executive

The Constitution of the Committee and the appointment of the Chair and Vice Chair for the municipal year 2019/20 were noted.

The Committee is asked to approve the minutes of the last meeting held on 19 February 2019.

RESOLVED -  That the minutes of the last meeting be approved as a correct record.

Report of the Acting Strategic Director, Communities and Environment

The Committee received a report which provided an update on suspensions and revocations that have taken place during the period 30 January 2019 to 20 May 2019

RESOLVED -              That the information contained within the report be noted.

Joint Report of the Strategic Director, Corporate Services and Governance and the Acting Strategic Director, Communities and Place

The Committee received a report seeking approval for the Brewery Tap, Gateshead, for the premises to be approved as a venue for the solemnisation of civil marriages and registration of civil partnerships.

The premises have been inspected by the representative of the Strategic Director, Corporate Services and Governance and reviewed by the Head of Communities and Environment. The premises satisfy the requirement to be a seemly and dignified venue for the proceedings in accordance with the Marriages and Civil Partnership (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005. There are no objections to the application.

Consultation has also been carried out with Northumbria Police and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Services they have no objections or comments regarding the proposal.

RESOLVED – that the application be approved.

The Committee may wish to exclude the press and public from the meeting during consideration of the following items on the grounds indicated:-
