The Committee received a report advising of two applications for approved premises status; one for the Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead and the other for The Hilton Hotel, Bottle Bank Gateshead; for both premises to be approved as venues for the solemnisation of civil marriages and registration of civil partnerships.


The ceremonies will take place in the Ravensworth Suite, Tyne Suite, Mayor’s Parlour, The Lamesley Room, The Blaydon Room, Bewicks A and Bewicks B (Civic Centre Gateshead) and the Gateshead Foyer lounge, the Gateshead Suite, Room 678 and Room 2 (Hilton Hotel).


Both premises satisfy the requirement to be a seemly and dignified venue for the proceedings in accordance with the Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005. There are no objections to either application.


RESOLVED - That the applications be approved.

The Committee were not satisfied that the applicant (RC/01/17) was a fit and proper person to hold a dual Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver Licence was the application was subsequently refused.



As the applicant was in attendance at the hearing and was duly notified of the decision at that time, any such appeal should be brought within 21 days of the hearing date.



The applicant signed an acknowledgement notice at the end of the meeting confirming that he had been advised of the outcome of his application and his right to appeal. A copy will also be retained by the council.
